Housie, or ‘Bingo’ as it is known in other parts of the world,  is likely to be one of the most popular games in history.

We have compiled a comprehensive Housie Guide to this wonderful game we all love to play. Here you will find an easy-to-read guide on how to play Housie, the history of the game, tips, equipment, rules, online housie and much more!

Here are some of the comprehensive resources we have covered in this guide to help you win at Housie games!

Housie Game

The Housie game gets its name from the term ‘full house’ which refers to all the numbers on a player’s ticket that have been marked off, winning them the grand prize in the game.

Here’s a quick look at how the game works:

  • Players buy tickets, which contain the numbers 1 to 90.
  • Players then need to mark off numbers on their tickets as they hear them called.
  • The player can either win one line across, two lines across or three lines across – which is the ‘full house’.
  • As soon as the player has filled their numbers, they jump up and shout ‘Housie!’ to claim their prize.
  • As soon as the ‘full house’ prize has been won, the game stops.
  • A new game is then started, with new tickets.

Play Housie

Housie is played all over the UK, as well in New Zealand and Australia. Bingo (which is the same game, basically) is played in almost every country in the world, from Sweden to the United States.

Here are a few interesting Housie-playing facts:

  • An average game of Housie takes between four and four-and-a-half minutes.
  • The average speed of a UK Housie caller is 23 numbers per minute.
  • The average time to check a winning ticket being claimed is 30 seconds.
  • In New Zealand and Australia, Housie is a fundraiser event held by churches, sports teams and other groups, and raffles are usually sold before the game.

All sounding like loads of fun so far?
